Who doesn’t love a sweet treat? My go-to sweet treat is always ice cream, no matter what the weather is like it is always the perfect treat to satisfy my sweet tooth. Harrisonburg, Virginia has plenty of delicious and unique ice cream places, I have thoroughly enjoyed trying a lot of them! Ready to find your new favorite treat spot? Let’s dive into the must-try spots here in Harrisonburg!

  1. Kline’s Dairy Bar

Kline’s Dairy Bar has always been my family’s favorite place to stop in Harrisonburg. My mom has been going to Kline’s ever since she was a student at JMU, so every time we would visit when I was younger, stopping at Kline’s was a must! My favorite thing about Kline’s is that they rotate through different soft serve flavors every Wednesday. They offer many flavors such as Apple Crisp in the fall seasons, Fudge Brownie, Peanut Butter Cookies and Cream, Raspberry Cheesecake, Salted Caramel Crunch, and so much more. I would give Kline’s a 10/10 for their rating, the flavors are always delicious, the vibes there are nostalgic, and the customer service is great! They also have two amazing locations in Harrisonburg: one off South Main St and another in Downtown Harrisonburg! I highly recommend stopping at either one of their locations!

  1. Smiley’s Ice Cream

I had the opportunity to try Smiley’s Ice Cream for the first time ever the other week and I was amazed at how good it was! A friend of mine suggested that we go, so I agreed because I will never turn down trying something new. Smiley’s location was farther away than I expected however, the distance was not awful. They offered plenty of ice cream options; they had weekly, monthly, and everyday flavors, I really enjoyed the variety. They also had plenty of pints and ice cream sandwiches in freezers in their store as well. I decided to try out their pumpkin pie ice cream since I love getting fall ice cream flavors during the season. Smiley’s certainly did not disappoint, this was by far the best pumpkin pie flavored ice cream I had ever tasted, it even had bits of pie crust in it as well! I would give Smiley’s a 9/10, I take one point off because I wish it was closer in town. Their ice cream is delicious, and I love the variety of flavors, I can’t wait to try more!

  1. Bella Gelato

I have only tried Bella Gelato once, but it had to be added to this list. Bella Gelato is located in Downtown Harrisonburg and is a part of Bella Luna Wood-Fired Pizza. They serve various flavors of gelato, coffee, and many other delicious pastries. When I went to Bella Gelato I tasted the Brown Butter Cookie Dough Gelato, and it was one of the most amazing things I had ever tasted! It was so creamy; the cookie dough bits were so tasty it was the perfect mix. Bella Gelato is not the cheapest however, you get your money’s worth. I would give Bella Gelato an 8/10, I prefer cheaper options, but the gelato itself was very good.
